About Hostel: Objective, Management and Affiliation
Introduction
The hostel of Kamarpukur Ramakrishna Mission Multipurpose School provides a disciplined and spiritual environment for students. Nearly 13% of the total students (approx. 116 out of 957) reside in the hostel, known as “Bhavans”, which serve as their second home. Under the guidance of monastic and lay members, students receive an education that fosters physical, mental, and spiritual development, following the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
Objective
The hostel aims to provide an education similar to public schools but with Indian values and traditions, emphasizing character-building and holistic development.
Accommodations
Students are divided into three hostels (Bhavans):
- Brahmananda Bhavana – Classes V-VIII
- Vivek Bhavana – Class IX
- Ramakrishna Bhavana – Class X
Each Bhavan is supervised by wardens and monastic members.
Hostel: Admission, Curriculum, Rules & Regulations
Admission
- Classes V & VI are open for hostel admission.
- Admission forms are available in August,
- Admission notifications released in July.
- Vidyarthi Vrata (Vow-Taking Ceremony) is held annually for new hostel entrants in the presence of guardians, teachers, and monks.
Curriculum
The hostel follows the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education curriculum.
- Languages: Bengali (First), English (Second), Sanskrit (Third – for Classes VII & VIII).
- Subjects:
- Compulsory (V-X): Indian Culture & Value Education (ICVE), Computer Application.
- Work & Physical Education (V-VIII) and optional Mechanics (IX-X).
Discipline & Rules – A Path to Growth
📌 Uniform Requirements:
Sky blue shirt & navy blue pants (except during prayer and playtime).
Prayer Attire: Dhuti, white Punjabi, and white ‘Uttariya’.
🚫 Strictly Prohibited:
❌ Mobile phones, smartwatches, cameras, radios, and other electronic gadgets.
❌ Outside food purchases.
❌ Unauthorized money transactions.
👨👩👧 Parental Visits:
Allowed only on the 2nd & 4th Sundays (10 AM – 2 PM).
Phone calls must follow the scheduled time set by the hostel office.
⚠️ Hostel Expulsion Criteria:
Failure to secure promotion in the annual school examination.
Serious behavioral issues that conflict with the school’s principles.

Vacations – When Can Students Go Home?
Students can only go home during these long breaks:
🌞 Summer Vacation: 2-3 weeks
🎇 Puja Vacation: 4 weeks
📅 Session-Ending Vacation: 3 weeks
🚫 Outside of these periods, leave is only granted for emergencies.
Food & Diet – Healthy & Balanced Meals

✅ Permitted extra items: Biscuits, Horlicks, and fruits.
🚫 No other outside food items are allowed inside the hostel.
